Love, for token

'Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, love divine;
Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine;
Love to God and neighbor,
Love for prayer and gift and sign.'
---Christina Rossetti

What sign marks the believer today? Is it a cross on the wall, a fish on the bumper, a Bible verse T shirt or WWJD bracelet, a Bible in the backpack? Strict adherence to the Ten Commandments? Not cheating, lying, or stealing?
Imagine a world where love was our sign, where love was the only gift and it was everything, where love was token of what we share between heaven and earth and among us treading this earth. Imagine that world.
Love, for token...

  1. With the first man and woman, damage occurred to the relationship between man and God. Damage occurred to the love between man and God. My bible is all about the restoration of relationships. It is about the restoration of love. I believe that, without love, there is no salvation.

  2. Carter, in my studies, love is the essence of God's story with us. All of our failures of connection with God and emphatically with each other happen when a force besides love rules our hearts, minds, and interactions. Whether it is fear, greed, hatred, or apathy, if it replaces love in our lives it does lead to ruin. Thank you for your comment.
